The Bergische Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Burgholz in Wuppertal today received a donation of EUR 21,000. This was donated by employees of HEMSCHEIDT Fahrwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG. based in Haan-Gruiten. The money comes from the company's own pension fund for employees in distress. Established in 1999 as an association, the fund is today no longer used. Therefore, the members decided to liquidate the association at the end of 2015. Instead of distributing the collected money among the employees and members, it was decided to donate it.
Dr. Mark Wöhrmann, Managing Director at HEMSCHEIDT and former 1st Chairman of the Association: “We thought long and hard about whom to give the donation. With the children's hospice we have found a recipient who helps and supports the families of children associated with lifetime-shortening illnesses. The house is not only a place of mourning and farewell, but also much more a place of wonderful and happy moments. We’re very happy that we can support this valuable work a little with our donation.”
The donation was used to buy two electric bicycles that can also be used with a wheelchair. “The bicycles provide a bit of freedom and normality for our families”, says Kerstin Wülfing, Head of the children's hospice foundation. Guests at the children's hospice now have the opportunity of going for a different kind of outing and are really happy about the donation.
